About the Role:

We are looking for a Claims Expert – Liability to join our team in Lausanne. This role involves handling complex liability claims across various sectors, ensuring prompt and fair settlements while maintaining high service standards. As part of a leading direct insurer, you will play a key role in managing claims efficiently, collaborating with clients, brokers, and internal teams to deliver tailored solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and assess liability claims, including General Liability, Product Liability, and Professional Liability, from initial notification to resolution.
• Conduct in-depth investigations, review policy coverage, and determine appropriate claim outcomes.
• Negotiate settlements directly with claimants, brokers, and legal representatives.
• Collaborate with underwriting and risk management teams to ensure accurate assessment of liability exposures.
• Handle claims-related litigation, including working with external legal counsel when necessary.
• Monitor claims trends and provide feedback to improve underwriting guidelines and risk control measures.
• Maintain compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
• Prepare and present detailed reports on claims developments and portfolio performance to senior management.

Requirements:

• Language: Fluent in English & German (written and spoken); French is a plus.
• Solid experience in handling liability claims, preferably within direct insurance or a legal/claims consultancy environment.
• Strong knowledge of Swiss liability laws and international liability insurance practices.
• Excellent negotiation, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong analytical abilities with a detail-oriented approach to claims assessment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
• Relevant educational background (degree in law, insurance, or a related field).
