About the Job

JCW is working in partnership with a regional bank based in Hunterdon County, NJ. Our client is seeking talented candidates to fill an Internal Controls Associate opening. As an Internal Controls Associate, you will be responsible for managing co-sourcing support teams and enhancing the bank's Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance program across all operational areas. You will collaborate closely with various departments to assess, document, and test internal controls, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements and mitigate financial risks. Additionally, you will play a key role in identifying opportunities for process improvements and implementing best practices within the organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting risk assessments and evaluating the effectiveness of internal controls related to financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
  • Developing and executing test plans to assess the design and operating effectiveness of SOX controls.
  • Documenting findings and communicating recommendations to stakeholders for remediation of control deficiencies.
  • Collaborating with external auditors to facilitate the annual SOX compliance audit process.
  • Monitoring changes in regulatory requirements and industry standards to ensure ongoing compliance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
  • 2+ years of experience in internal controls, audit, or SOX compliance within the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of SOX regulations and experience in managing SOX compliance programs.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory requirements.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact confidently with stakeholders at all levels.
