Job Overview:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Property Treaty Underwriter to join our dynamic Property Treaty Underwriting team in Zurich. As part of an international reinsurance company, you will be responsible for managing and developing a portfolio of European property treaty business, with a particular focus on the French market. Working within a team of 11 underwriters and actuaries, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a successful book of business while deepening your expertise in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Portfolio Management: Underwrite and manage a portfolio of property treaty reinsurance business, with a focus on the French market.
  • Risk Assessment: Evaluate risks and exposure, analyze submissions, and provide recommendations in line with company guidelines and risk appetite.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers and cedents in France and other European markets. Ensure effective communication and client servicing.
  • Market Knowledge: Stay updated on market developments, competitor activities, and regulatory changes in the French and broader European reinsurance markets.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues across underwriting, actuarial, and claims departments to provide comprehensive solutions for clients. Support senior underwriters in complex transactions.
  • Negotiation & Pricing: Negotiate terms and conditions of reinsurance contracts with brokers and clients. Contribute to pricing discussions and ensure profitable growth.
  • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure compliance with internal guidelines and external regulations. Assist in the preparation of regular reports and portfolio analysis.

Requirements:

  • Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in property treaty reinsurance or underwriting.
  • Languages: Fluent in French (required). Proficiency in English is essential, and additional languages are a plus.
  • Educational Background: University degree in finance, economics, actuarial science, or related field. Professional insurance/reinsurance qualifications are advantageous.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risk and make sound decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment and adapt to a fast-paced international setting.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in underwriting and documentation.
