Job Overview

We are seeking a talented Systems & Equipment Development Engineer to join a dynamic team in Plymouth, MN. This contract position offers the opportunity to work on innovative manufacturing technologies. You will be responsible for implementing and scaling new manufacturing processes, and managing equipment procurement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacturing Technology Implementation: Drive the development and growth of new manufacturing technologies.
  • Equipment Procurement & Qualification: Procure, qualify, and manage capital equipment, tooling, and fixtures for manufacturing.
  • Project Management: Lead and organize related projects, manage timelines, resources, and staff as needed.
  • Thought Leadership: Provide expert insights and work with limited direction to identify and address issues.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work cross-functionally with product teams in both Life Cycle Management (LCM) and New Product Development (NPD).

Key Technical Skills Required

  • Machine Design & Vendor Management: Strong technical background in machine and tooling development, with proven experience managing vendors and keeping them on schedule.
  • Documentation Expertise: Ability to manage equipment documentation, preventive maintenance records, and support documents.
  • Process Scale-Up: Proven experience with process scale-up and development.
  • Creative Problem-Solving: Ability to generate creative solutions for tooling challenges, focusing on simplicity, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in SolidWorks is required; 

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Medical Device Manufacturing.
  • Experience working with design houses or vendors within the medical industry.

Desired Soft Skills

  • Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential.
  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Technical Focus: Strong attention to detail in documentation and technical accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (preferred).
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in equipment and systems development, particularly in manufacturing technology.
  • A background in medical device manufacturing or similar highly regulated environments is ideal.
